About

Scodra was the capital throughout the 3rd century BC for Agron and his wife Teuta up to the last Illyrian ruler Gentios in the 2nd century BC. By 168 BC the entire territory was under Roman control. The town became an important centre of trade and communication, as proven by two inscriptions mentioning Scodra as a colonia. The first was found in Doclea (not far from Podgorica), the second during inventorial works within the castle of Scodra, built into a pillar of a cistern.
