The theater is the largest of Epirus. A long upper peripatos seems delimit the extension. It seems further that the limits of the koilon were " broken line "and that real analemmata , parallel to the stage , as a rule in Epirus, were present only in correspondence of the lower part of the koilon. The whole system is organized around the large esplanade orchestra (diameter 20 m) and the stage, supported south by a substructure that contains the artificial terrace . Those works refer to the first half of the third century B.C.
There are three phases of construction , the first of which is from the first half of the third century B.C. It included a circular orchestra, the koilon with a dense subdivision in kerkydes , a scenic proskenion, the terrace. A second phase follows about a century later. Adaptions are made: the water draining of the orchestra is expanded with a new channel from white limestone ( the previous stage had a similar channel but made of squared blocks of sandstone) . With the same material are made new bleachers in the koilon and traits of the analemmata.
